Voice Services
- What is a NEWT Business Phone system? NEWT offers enterprise-grade managed phone solutions via multiple deployment topologies to best fit your company’s unique business voice needs. Whether based on NEWT’s proprietary Hybrid PBX technology, or a fully cloud-based implementation, we offer an advanced business phone solution with the flexibility and features to promote the best possible call quality, maximized system reliability, and highly efficient call-handling experiences. With our professional, white-glove implementations, easy client management, and an experienced 24/7 NEWT Support Team, this is the phone solution of choice for thousands of businesses across Canada.
- I currently pay for my business phone lines through Bell; will I be doing the same with NEWT? NEWT is the Business Services division of Fibernetics; one of the biggest telephone companies in Canada and an Internet Services Provider. We have developed and directly support our own business voice platform. We provide your phone numbers, phone lines, and voice services, and your invoicing and support come directly from NEWT.
- I am not familiar with how to operate a system such as this one, is it easy? NEWT’s training experts design your initial phone system and provide you with extensive phone system administrative training so you have the confidence to quickly make setting adjustments. And, if managing a phone solution isn’t your thing, our phone system offerings include free PBX change-management support; an easy 611 dial request from a NEWT PBX phone or an email connects you to one of our phone system experts who can quickly make changes on your behalf.
- Can I still keep my existing phone number? Yes, our national government-regulated voice network covers about 95% of the Canadian population. If your business is within our voice network footprint, then porting your existing business number is not a problem at all. We can also provide new phone numbers and offer Toll Free and US phone number support. A NEWT representative will be able to quickly confirm number portability for you.
- What if I have more than one location, can I have them all linked together somehow? Yes, one of the many benefits of the NEWT’s Business Phone solution is that we can seamlessly link multiple sites together with unified management, direct extension dialing, and shared call-flow designs. Further flexibility is provided by allowing our valued clients to mix and match our various PBX deployment topologies based on what’s best suited for a particular business location, and we can offer optimized support for remote worker strategies.
- How quickly can I expect to get my system installed? The NEWT team does their very best to meet every customer’s needs. The process takes roughly 4-6 weeks from the time the order is submitted to when your system is installed. This gives us time to stage out items such as number porting and the implementation of NEWT circuits. We provide complete white glove installation and training and work with you to build out optimized call flows and advanced PBX configuration designs. The NEWT team will always ensure we customize your order and timeline to suit your needs and expectations.
- I currently use conference bridging through Bell, how will it work through your system? We include unlimited-use Audio Conferencing with your NEWT Business Phone at no additional cost. You can easily manage your own audio-conferencing bridges at any time and include as many participants as needed.
- What are your Long Distance and Toll Free rates? Our standard Canada and US Long Distance and Toll Free rates are now 2 cents per minute, and many of our NEWT voice solutions offer outbound Canada and US calling (with some minor restrictions).
- What is the difference between a NEWT Business Phone system and other VoIP providers? One of the key advantages that differentiates NEWT from other providers is that we designed and launched a unique and proprietary Hybrid PBX solution into the Canadian market over fifteen years ago. Our design provides optimized cloud and client premise-based phone system survivability, and the best voice quality and reliability in the industry. It leverages all that’s great about modern cloud-based solutions while retaining what they’re missing – an intelligent, managed-PBX appliance placed at the customer site. This can be coupled with a NEWT-managed network hardware design, and paired with a private NEWT circuit to keep voice calls away from the Internet. This offers a true end-to-end, advanced, managed phone system.
- How does the NEWT Business Phone system compare to other PBX systems for features? The NEWT Business Phone system currently offers close to 100 PBX features. Features include standards such as voicemail, voicemail to email, Find-Me Follow-Me, fully moderated and unlimited-use conference bridging, multiple auto attendants, call queuing, support for hundreds of extensions, real time Call Detail Record reporting, mobile device integration, and many, many more. Plus, we can easily layer in advanced features such as ACD Contact Centre functionality, call recording, MS Teams integration and more! NEWT is always innovating to be the leader in PBX functionality.
- Is the quality good? I’ve heard that VoIP is not good quality. The NEWT Business Phone solution’s Hybrid PBX technology delivers outstanding call quality and is often an improvement to legacy land lines. It is often paired with a NEWT private voice circuit to keep your business voice calls away from the public Internet. By leveraging the NEWT PBX appliance at the client site, we apply advanced proprietary and open-source technology to optimize call quality and reliability between the client site and our core voice network. From there, voice calls leverage one of the largest regulated voice networks in Canada to connect calls through the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
- What happens if my Internet goes down? The NEWT Business Phone solution is designed from the ground up to offer industry-leading reliability. With a NEWT Hybrid PBX build, the NEWT core network monitors the state of the local PBX appliance at the client site and will automatically apply pre-set call forwarding rules on a per extension basis should our core network lose connectivity with your PBX appliance (common reasons are loss in local site power or Internet failure). Calls are then automatically forwarded to cell phone numbers or alternate locations. With our cloud-based technology, we offer an always-on hosted phone solution that functions independently of client site conditions to provide maximized cloud-design reliability. NEWT can also provide intelligent internet circuits into a custom design to ensure maximum Internet uptime.
- Who makes the NEWT Business Phone system? The NEWT Business Phone solution offers proprietary designs developed and supported in Canada. For a Hybrid PBX build that can also extend to a fully-managed network hardware solution with inclusion of NEWT-managed router and LAN switching, NEWT uses commercial-grade, best of breed equipment from manufacturers like Cisco Systems. Solutions are custom-programmed, assembled, and shipped from our Canadian head office in Cambridge, Ontario.
- Do you offer any payment plans? NEWT does not currently offer any payment plans, however we work with a number of third party vendors that do offer this service.
- What payment options do you accept? You may pay by credit card, direct deposit, cheque, or through our NEWT Billing Portal. You can download the NEWT PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) form here.
